avodah(Ah´-voe-dah) (thanks for the help Stacey)

Hope everyone had a happy Thanksgiving holiday. This weekend I came across something that I wrote a few years back... thought i'd share it:
The words "work" and "worship" come from the same Hebrew root, "avodah." Some people say, “As you work, you are worshipping the Lord”. It’s almost like the idea of “suffering” for God. I disagree with this idea. I believe that God created me to worship Him. God created us all to worship Him with the talents and gifts that He has given to us. In our use of those gifts and talents, we worship Him. And that is our work on this earth.

Kinda interesting that I came across this... as I am becoming increasingly convinced that I am not able to use my unique talents or gifts in the particular job that I have at the moment.... hmm...

I know what you are saying. It's hard when you are so connected to what you do that you forget who you are.

Lambie, thought I would drop a line of encouragement. Having been in so many different careers and employment endeavors (to the extent I've given up on deciding what I will be when and if I grow up!) I have learned a secret...you can worship God with who you are and what you possess regardless of your title and/or activities. The beauty of this is never having to wait till you are developed, placed, or utilized in your special giftings to worship God! And I think that is what worship is all about....spontaneous awareness and appreciation of the great I Am that I Am. So...regardless of where you are working or what you are doing go ahead and worship your heart out! God is very pleased with you!
